Elon Musk planning to build an ‘army’ of 1 million humanoid Optimus robots

American billionaire Elon Musk has announced Tesla’s plans to create an “army of one million” humanoid Optimus robots, Wired reports.

As noted, full-scale production is expected to begin by the end of 2026.

During a meeting with investors, Musk expressed concern about maintaining control over Tesla in the future, given the potential influence of the “robot army.”

“I don’t feel comfortable creating this army of robots unless I have significant influence,” Musk said at the investor meeting.

He added that Tesla plans to develop a production prototype of the Optimus robot in February or March 2026.

As Wired notes, Tesla shareholders are set to vote in November on a board proposal to grant Musk a $1 trillion compensation package over the next ten years. The deal would also increase Musk’s stake in Tesla from 13% to 25%.

However, Musk would receive the payment only if he meets certain ambitious milestones — including delivering 20 million vehicles, launching 1 million robotaxis for commercial use, raising Tesla’s valuation to $8.5 trillion, and delivering 1 million humanoid Optimus robots.
