Samsung unveils trifold smartphone

Samsung Electronics has introduced a three-part foldable smartphone, The Verge reports.

The device was revealed in Gyeongju, South Korea, during an exhibition held alongside the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit. The phone was displayed behind glass, both folded and unfolded, and no one was allowed to touch it.

According to Bloomberg, this is Samsung’s first “three-part” phone, designed to function both as a regular smartphone and a tablet. Technical specifications for the device have not been disclosed.

The Verge notes that the model does not yet have an official name, but the South Korean publication Dailian reports that the device is called the Galaxy Z Trifold.
