Aliyev says ‘Zangezur Corridor’ opening will benefit all Central Asian countries
One of the main areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan is the development of diverse transport and logistics infrastructures and the expansion of transit opportunities, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in an interview with Uzbekistan’s National News Agency (UzA).
“In this field, the participation of our countries in the international transport route “Middle Corridor” is especially significant, since Azerbaijan is an important transit country for Uzbekistan and the other Central Asian countries. In recent years, the increase in export opportunities and cargo transportation via the “Middle Corridor” has acquired special strategic importance,” Aliyev noted.
The Azerbaijani leader added that the opening of the “Zangezur Corridor” would benefit all the countries of Central Asia.
“Uzbekistan was the first country—and President Mirziyoyev was the first world leader—to take the initiative to help in the reconstruction of the Karabakh region. We will always remember this and view it as a gesture of solidarity, friendship, and brotherhood between our countries and peoples,” Aliyev said.
