KP punishes the last opposition NA committee chair
Today, the Civil Contract (KP) faction of the National
Assembly terminated the powers of Taguhi Tovmasyan as the Chair of the Standing
Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs by a vote of 62 in
favor and 1 against. The MP described this as “punishment.”
“I left Nikol Pashinyan’s team in 2020 and said that in no
way I intended to share a path with those who surrendered our homeland,” Taguhi
Tovmasyan said.
The opposing NA Armenia alliance and With Honor faction did
not participate in the debates and voting on the issue of termination of
Tovmasyan’s powers. With Honor released a statement, saying that the process is
entirely political and aims to put pressure on the opposition.
