No unauthorized items were found in any ICRC-owned vehicle, ICRC clarifies

The International Organization of the Red Cross is aware of
the concerns raised about the movement of unauthorized goods through the Lachin
Corridor and considers such actions unacceptable.

The organization states that no unauthorized items were
found in any vehicle owned by it, and all transported cargo underwent customs
inspection by the Republic of Azerbaijan.

“We regret that, without our knowledge, four hired drivers
tried to transport commercial goods in their own vehicles, on which the ICRC
logo was temporarily affixed.

The mentioned persons were not ICRC employees, and the
service contracts signed with them were immediately terminated by ICRC. Our
work along the Lachin Corridor is always and exclusively humanitarian,” ICRC
said.

During the complete blockade of Artsakh, more than 600
medical patients were transported by the ICRC to Armenia to receive urgent
medical care. Medical supplies, food, baby food and other essential items were
also sent to local medical institutions and families.
