Azerbaijan’s and Iran’s foreign ministers discuss regional issues

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vahid Jalalzadeh.

The sides discussed bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries, as well as regional issues. It was noted that the contacts between the leaders of Iran and Azerbaijan, the existing political dialogue, and interparliamentary ties are important for the development of friendly relations between the two countries. It was also noted that discussions on issues of mutual interest contribute to expanding cooperation.

The diplomats added that the two visits made by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Azerbaijan this year have given an additional boost to the development of bilateral relations.

The sides discussed prospects for cooperation in the political, economic, and trade spheres, as well as in energy security, transport, and communications. They noted that a number of joint projects implemented by Iran and Azerbaijan play a significant role in the development of transport corridors passing through the region.
