Iran planning to carry out railway cargo transportation to Armenia via Nakhijevan

Iran is considering transporting cargo to Armenia via the Nakhijevan railway route, Iran’s railways chief, Jabar Ali Zakeri, told Azerbaijani media.

According to him, discussions were held with representatives of the South Caucasus Railways — Armenia’s railway operator — during the 83rd meeting of the CIS Railway Transport Council.

The talks focused on delivering certain types of goods from Iran to Armenia through Nakhijevan.

“This will allow us to launch a railway in Nakhijevan in the future. We are striving to implement this project as soon as possible,” Zakeri noted.
