Iran’s ambassador in Azerbaijan reaffirms support for Armenia–Azerbaijan peace process

Iran’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mujtaba Demirchilu, has announced the upcoming opening of a new border crossing on the Araks River in the Kelale-Aghbend area.

According to Azerbaijani media, the crossing is expected to become operational in the coming months.

It is reported that Iran, Azerbaijan, and Russia are currently working on a joint project aimed at simplifying trade procedures and creating an efficient transit route via Azerbaijan.

Regarding political issues, Demirchilu reaffirmed Iran’s support for the Armenian–Azerbaijani peace process. He stated that stabilizing the situation in the region opens new opportunities for the development of bilateral relations and for implementing joint infrastructure projects in the border zone.

The Iranian ambassador also condemned the sanctions policies of the United States and several European countries, describing them as contrary to international law. He urged neighboring states not to give in to external pressure and to prevent third parties from interfering in the development of friendly relations between Iran and its neighbors.
