“On World Refugee Day, we once again draw attention of the international community to the policy of ethnic cleansing of Azerbaijan, which left thousands of Armenians forcibly displaced from Azerbaijani towns of Sumgait, Baku, Kirovabad, as well as from Nagorno-Karabakh territories under Azerbaijani control,” reads the statement posted on the Twitter account of the Armenian MFA.
“Today we also reiterate our call for effective steps to prevent similar policies and for strong international engagement to address current existential challenges for the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, including issues of their rights and security as well as the ongoing illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor,” the statement reads.
