EU does not impose same demands on Georgia as on Moldova and Armenia: Kobakhidze
The European Union’s (EU) dual approach to Georgia is shameful, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in a statement to journalists․
According to him, the European bureaucracy is already directly demanding that Georgia should join sanctions against Russia.
“In 2022, we made a simple calculation and saw that joining sanctions could lead to at least a 10 percent decline in the economy. Therefore, we made a decision that is in line with our national interests,” Kobakhidze added.
He also recalled that the European bureaucracy did not make such demands to Moldova, Armenia, or any other country:
“Double standards are observed here, too. Prime ministers of certain countries can fly to Moscow from Europe. We do not have objections; this is the business of the respective countries. What is acceptable in one case, may cause a sharp negative reaction in another.”
