Zelenskyy: Ukraine is ready for a counterattack
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that the upcoming counter-offensive may take place in completely different scenarios. He expressed this opinion in an interview published on Saturday by The Wall Street Journal.
“Honestly, the counterattack could go differently, completely differently. But we intend to do it, and we’re ready.” He added that this counterattack could cost Ukraine dearly. As for NATO membership, Zelenskyy noted that if Kyiv is not given a signal at the Vilnius summit that they are ready to accept the country into the North Atlantic Alliance, then Ukraine will not be represented at the summit.
“If they don’t give us a signal in Vilnius, I think that it makes no sense for Ukraine to be at the summit,” he said. The subject of a possible counter-offensive by Ukrainian troops has been discussed in the media for several months, various dates have been mentioned. The Russian Foreign Ministry announced earlier that the open rationalizations of the Western countries about the upcoming Ukrainian counterattack confirm their direct participation in the conflict.
