Peskov says Kremlin ‘understands’ Aliyev’s cancellation of Saint Petersburg visit

The Kremlin is taking an understanding view of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s decision to cancel his visit to Saint Petersburg due to his tight schedule, Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.

“Moscow and Baku continue to develop their partnership,” the Kremlin spokesperson added.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani president’s office announced that Ilham Aliyev did not attend the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council held on Dec. 21, as Azerbaijan is not a member of the EAEU. Aliyev also did not attend the informal summit of the CIS, citing the president’s tight work schedule.
