
Aircraft carrying Libya’s chief of staff crashes
An aircraft transporting Libya’s chief of staff has crashed, Turkish authorities have reported.
Rescue teams have located the wreckage of the downed plane.
Earlier, Turkish media said that the aircraft, which had taken off from Ankara and was heading to Tripoli, had disappeared from radar.
There were five people on board, including the Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army, Gen. Mohammed Ali Ahmed al-Haddad.
Explosive sounds were heard near the airport shortly after takeoff.
