Ukraine to hold elections after peace agreement signing, Zelensky says

Ukraine should hold presidential elections “as soon as possible” following the signing of a peace agreement with Russia, President Volodymyr Zelensky told reporters, unian.net reports.

“As soon as possible. This is the vision of our partners. We understand where it comes from. In other words, after the signing of the agreement or during its implementation, the Verkhovna Rada will be able to vote on the date of the presidential elections in Ukraine. For example, we sign it, and at that time we can hold presidential elections. We do not see any problem with this. If someone truly wants elections in Ukraine and believes it gives hope to achieve through politics what could not be achieved through war, then that is their position. But this does not mean that the Ukrainian people will necessarily see it that way,” Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian president explained that Ukraine can hold elections based on its own interests as a democratic country. At the same time, he stated that Ukraine’s partners should have no doubts about the outcome of these elections.
