Zakharova says Russia raises Electric Networks of Armenia’s nationalization issue in contacts with Armenia

Protecting the rights and interests of Russian citizens and Russian businesses abroad has always been among Russia’s priorities, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said, commenting on the arrest of businessman Samvel Karapetyan in Armenia.

“We carry out this work strictly in accordance with the laws and sovereignty of the foreign state. In our contacts with Armenian officials, we raise the issue of the nationalization of Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC and propose to jointly seek a solution that would take into account the interests of both the republic and the Russian entrepreneur,” Zakharova noted, adding that in such situations other businesspeople have become cautious in assessing the prospects of their projects.
