Secretary of RA Security Council Armen Grigoryan speaks in Moscow about the need to send international observers to NK and Lachin Corridor

Secretary of the RA State Council Armen Grigoryan is attending in the 11th International Meeting of High-ranking Representatives Coordinating Security Issues in the Moscow region of the Russian Federation, during which he made a speech.

In his speech, the secretary addressed the challenges of international and regional security. He spoke about Armenia and Azerbaijan’s recognition of each other’s territorial integrity on the basis of the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991, and presented the challenges that Azerbaijan poses to the territorial security of Armenia.

At the same time, Grigoryan addressed the establishment of a checkpoint by Azerbaijan on April 23 in the Lachin corridor, an area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping mission, stressing that this is a gross violation of the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, by which Azerbaijan seeks to subject the population of Nagorno-Karabakh to ethnic cleansing. In this context, the head of the Security Council of Armenia emphasized the need to implement an international mechanism to ensure the rights and security of the Nagorno-Karabakh population, as well as to send international observers to Nagorno-Karabakh and the Lachin corridor.

In the final part of his address, Armen Grigoryan stressed that Armenia is taking steps to normalize relations with Turkey, and expressed hope that the normalization of these relations will advance more progressively.
