There are no safe options with Trump: European officials on Trump–Zelensky expected meeting
European officials expect that the meeting scheduled for Dec. 28 between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will be productive, but they believe that the outcome of any meeting with Trump is unpredictable, European officials told CNN.
“There are no safe options with Trump,” one NATO official said.
U.S. officials, however, told CNN that the Trump–Zelensky meeting would be productive following a week of intensive talks between the United States and Ukraine.
U.S. and European officials said that European leaders would not take part in the meeting. However, a day before the meeting, on Dec. 27, a phone call will take place between Trump, Zelensky and European leaders.
The meeting between Trump and Zelensky will be held in Florida on Dec. 28.
