Submit your resignation letter, Mr. President: Artsakh National Assembly President to Arayik Harutyunyan

NA President of the Republic of Artsakh Artur Tovmasyan made a statement during the NA regular session: “Dear compatriots, I would like to turn to the president of the Republic of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, with an appeal, call, urging and a request. You probably know – I mentioned this during the last rally as well – that I have taken part in all the rallies to which I have been invited. Mr. President, I have never interfered in your affairs, and you have never interfered in the NA activities. I have offered a plan, formation of an agency, not a vague one, but the one that saved us in the ‘90s, that is the State Defense Committee.

I suggested that the president appoint two people to that committee, namely Ruben Vardanyan and Samvel Babayan. I have no idea of their attitude to this. It’s quite possible that they won’t accept this appointment. Why? You may ask. But please don’t ask questions. Mr. President, if that plan proved ineffective, now for the first time I may hurt somebody’s feelings. Either submit your resignation letter, Mr. President, or put your trustworthiness to a referendum. If the people don’t believe that you’ve been elected, you will have to resign. However, this does not mean that in case of your resignation, Artur Tovmasyan will occupy the position of the president. If it turns out that the people don’t have trust in you, I’ll resign as well.”
