Venezuela’s acting president says country demands Maduro’s and his wife’s immediate release

Venezuela is demanding the immediate release of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, the country’s Vice President Delcy Rodríguez said on Telesur. Rodríguez has been appointed acting president by a ruling of the Supreme Court.

According to Rodríguez, Venezuela will never become a colony of any country.

“The only legitimate president of Venezuela is Nicolás Maduro,” she stated.

Earlier on Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States had launched a large-scale attack on Venezuela and that President Nicolás Maduro and his wife had been captured.
