Merz says no solution in Ukraine through textbook diplomacy
Ukraine is on the brink of a humanitarian and energy crisis, making it crucial to bring the conflict to an end as soon as possible, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said at a press conference in Paris following a meeting of the so-called Coalition of the Willing, TASS reports.
“The country is on the verge of a humanitarian and energy crisis. Therefore, we are intensifying our already substantial efforts to achieve rapid results. We want a ceasefire,” he said.
Merz also stressed that “we will not find a solution by relying on a diplomatic textbook.” According to him, “we can only move closer to the ideal of a just peace.” The chancellor added that it is currently impossible to speak about specific timelines for ending hostilities.
