US moves to seize Venezuelan oil tanker in North Atlantic

The US is currently carrying out an operation in a bid to seize a Venezuela-linked oil tanker in the North Atlantic, a US official told CBS News on Wednesday, according to Euronews.

Russia sent a submarine to escort an empty oil tanker the US military has been pursuing and attempting to seize for weeks, according to US media reports.

US officials said the tanker is part of a shadow fleet carrying oil for countries such as Venezuela, Russia and Iran in violation of US sanctions.
