Tigran Avinyan: I exclude the possibility of dismantling the Nemesis monument; We may end up discussing Tsitsernakaberd

The Nemesis monument is dedicated to the knights of national dignity. It is not against any people or any country. Yerevan Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan said this in a conversation with journalists, at the same time ruling out the possibility that the monument will be dismantled.

“It is not appropriate to politicize the issue to this extent, which is what the Turkish Foreign Ministry is doing. If we constantly discuss the same topics, we may end up discussing the Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex, and that can raise questions among Turkish officials. This is our internal issue,” Avinyan said.

Tigran Avinyan mentioned that the decision to install the monument was adopted by Yerevan City Council in 2021 and was not agreed with the government. “Such decisions should be discussed with the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; something went wrong,” Avinyan said.
