Nuclear Power Plant to be offline for 150 days this year, former director says

At a press briefing today, David Ghazinyan, the former acting director of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant, highlighted several issues following a recent session of the Public Services Regulatory Commission, which announced that electricity tariffs for consumers would not increase.

Ghazinyan noted that the nuclear power plant is expected to be offline for 150 days this year.

“Other financial revenues of 12.7 billion drams have been projected. Last year, the plant was shut down for 30–45 days, but only 189 million drams in additional revenues were planned. The Commission should explain where this projected revenue is coming from. They should also clarify why the repayment of financial loans for the Yerevan Thermal Power Plant (Yerevan TPP) and the Hrazdan TPP has been postponed; these were supposed to be shut down this year,” Ghazinyan said.
