Syrian army announces liberation of Sheikh Maqsoud district from Kurdish militants
Following intense clashes that continued until dawn, the Syrian army command has announced that it has taken control of the Sheikh Maqsoud district in Aleppo and cleared the area of militants, the Aleppo-based Gandzasar weekly reports.
“We urge the civilian population of Sheikh Maqsoud to remain in their homes until security in the area is fully stabilized,” the commanders of the operation said.
Syrian state news agency SANA has reported that Syrian security forces and demining units have entered the district to maintain security and carry out mine-clearing operations.
