Zelensky says Ukraine has never been and will never be obstacle to peace
On the evening of Jan. 15, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine has never been and will never be an obstacle to peace. His remarks came in response to US President Donald Trump’s statement the previous day, in which Trump claimed that Zelensky is the “main obstacle” to ending the Russia-Ukraine war, Meduza writes.
Zelensky also noted that he had a phone call with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, during which they discussed, among other topics, air defense systems for Ukraine and diplomatic efforts with the United States.
“Ukraine has never been and will never be an obstacle to peace,” Zelensky stated.
The Ukrainian president highlighted that Russian missiles, drones, and repeated attempts to destroy Ukraine are “clear evidence” that Moscow is not seeking a peace agreement.
In an interview with Reuters, Trump said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is “ready for a deal.”
“I think Ukraine is less ready for a deal,” the US president stated.
When asked what the main obstacle to ending the war is, Trump responded, “Zelensky.”
