Trump imposes 10% tariffs on 8 European countries over Greenland
Starting Feb. 1, 2026, a 10% tariff will be imposed on all goods shipped to the United States from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland, US President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social.
According to Trump, the tariff will increase to 25% starting June 1, and the European countries will be required to pay until the Greenland purchase deal is finalized.
The White House chief stated that the United States has “subsidized Denmark, all EU countries, and other nations for years” by not charging tariffs on their goods.
“Now it is time to respond to Denmark in the same way. Global peace is at risk—China and Russia want Greenland, and Denmark can do nothing about it,” Trump wrote.
