Trump presses Harvard for $1B in compensation
The Washington administration is demanding $1 billion in compensation from Harvard University for alleged violations, US President Donald Trump announced.
“We are now seeking One Billion Dollars in damages, and want nothing further to do, into the future, with Harvard University,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. He described the university as “strongly anti-Semitic” and added that it had committed gross violations of the law.
Last year, the Washington administration called for changes to the university’s policies, citing the need to protect Jewish students from anti-Semitism. It also took several other actions against the university. In particular, Trump suggested classifying it as a political organization and revoking its tax-exempt status. The US Department of Education announced the freezing of $2.2 billion in grants and $60 million in long-term contracts provided to the university.
