Russia ready to send observers to Armenia’s elections if Yerevan invites, Matviyenko says
Russia is ready to send observers to Armenia’s parliamentary elections if Yerevan decides to do so and extends an official invitation, Russian Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko said during a meeting with Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan, Interfax reports.
“I believe our parliamentary dialogue will continue, as it is in the interests of both states and in the interests of our peoples,” Matviyenko said.
She also pointed to the high level of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
“About 33% of Armenia’s foreign trade turnover is with Russia. Over these years, Russian business has invested more than $4 billion in Armenia across 40 projects. This shows that we have ambitious plans for further development,” Matviyenko noted.
