Melania Trump to preside over UN Security Council
US First Lady Melania Trump will preside over the UN Security Council on Monday, March 2, 2026, US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz said in an X post.
“First Lady Melania Trump is set to make history at the United Nations, taking the gavel as the United States assumes the Security Council Presidency to emphasize education’s role in advancing tolerance and world peace,” Waltz noted.
As previously reported, the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council will soon pass to the United States. However, this will mark the first time a sitting first lady chairs a Council meeting.
