France ready to defend Gulf states and Jordan against Iran, foreign minister says

France is ready to defend the Persian Gulf countries and Jordan against Iran, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said.

“France expresses its full support and solidarity with our friendly countries that have become targets of IRGC missile and drone strikes and have been drawn into the conflict,” the minister stated, referring to Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.

“Under agreements signed with our partners and the principles of collective self-defense enshrined in international law, France is ready to take part in their defense,” Barrot stated.
