Threats in Aliyev’s speech seem aimed at further escalation, expert says

Expert on Azerbaijani Affairs Tatev Hayrapetyan writes that Ilham Aliyev’s speech contained statements and threats that appear designed to further escalate the situation.

“Anyway, let’s wait and see how events unfold. Of course, he couldn’t avoid mentioning Armenia, even in this context,” Hayrapetyan added.

During his address regarding drone attacks on Nakhijevan, Aliyev stated: “Just as we put an end to the ‘Armenian occupation,’ we are ready to show our strength against any evil force.”
