UN Secretary-General: We cannot see in Lebanon what we are seeing in Gaza

U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres made an X post, noting that the longer the conflict in Gaza continues, the greater the risk of escalation.

“We cannot see in Lebanon what we are seeing in Gaza. And we cannot allow what has been happening in Gaza to continue,” the U.N. Secretary-General wrote.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on Oct. 7, 2023, when the Hamas militants launched a military operation in Israel.

In retaliation, Israel announced a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched a ground offensive. So far, over 24,000 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip, and more than 60,000 have been injured.
