Trump reveals who will perform White House press secretary duties

U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that the duties of the White House press secretary will be performed for some time by departments heads, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

“We have a lot of people who want to be the White House press secretary. Many want it, many have applied for it,” Trump stated. When asked about a list of potential candidates, the U.S. president noted that he “might have put it together over the weekend.”

“For a while, we’re going to do it this way. We’re going to use cabinet secretaries, for example, Marco Rubio,” Trump stated, recalling that in early September, a White House briefing for journalists was conducted by U.S. Vice President JD Vance. “We’re going to use Scott Bessent, we’re going to use Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, we’re going to use a lot of different secretaries for that purpose,” Trump continued, adding that Education Secretary Linda McMahon could also step into the role of White House press secretary. “Ultimately, I’ll figure it out. Marco will be next,” he stated.
