Moody’s: Central Asian and Caucasus countries are building new digital infrastructure between East and West.

The availability of energy resources and a major expansion of power generation will be key factors determining the competitiveness of Central Asian and South Caucasus countries amid growing demand for digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence technologies, Moody’s Ratings said.

According to the international rating agency Moody’s, the ambitious “Digital Silk Way” program aims to establish a fundamentally new East-West data transmission route, connecting the European and Asian continents.

“This initiative is viewed as the digital component of the Middle Corridor, which is already heavily utilized for international trade and energy transport,” the analytical report notes.

The data transit system currently under development will provide a direct link between the South Caucasus and Europe’s digital infrastructure.
