The Japanese government thinks Moscow’s statements about Tokyo’s responsibility for the deterioration of bilateral relations are unfair and unacceptable, and blames the Russian side for the situation. Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan Yoshimasa Hayashi said this at a press conference.
According to him, Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, while in March 2022, it unilaterally announced that on account of the Japanese sanctions it did not intend to continue the talks on a peace treaty with Japan.
“We believe this whole situation has solely resulted from the actions of Russia. Attempts to lay the blame at Japan’s door are utterly unfair and unacceptable,” he said.
