Israel is going to move the military operations in the Gaza Strip further south to the border with Egypt, Reuters reports.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said yesterday that their fight against the Hamas militants south of the Gaza Strip, in the city of Khan Yunis, was successful. According to the Israeli side, this means their armed forces can advance toward the city of Rafah on the border with Egypt.
More than half of the Gaza Strip’s 2.3 million population are there and have found shelter in tents or public buildings.
At the same time, mediators from Qatar and Egypt hope for a positive response from Hamas regarding the truce formulated by Israel and the U.S. in Paris last week.
