Zakharova: Moscow does not think that Armenia’s decision not to attend the CSTO meetings acts in the country’s interests
We regret that Armenia has decided not to attend the CSTO
meetings in Minsk. Moscow does not think that this decision acts in Armenia’s
interests. As RIA Novosti reports, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria
Zakharova said this in her briefing.
“The decision of the Armenian leadership not to participate
in the meetings of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defense
Ministers, and the Committee of Secretaries of the Security Council is
certainly regrettable,” she said.
Zakharova also noted that Armenia does not intend to hamper
the activities of CSTO bodies, which leaves the door open for Yerevan.
“At the same time, as far as we understand, our Armenian
partners do not have the intention to hamper the organization’s activities and
prevent the adoption of already agreed documents, which, in fact, leaves the
door open for Yerevan to later join the process,” Zakharova added.
