The EU and the U.S. are not going to discuss security issues with Armenia: EU responds to Baku
Lead Spokesperson for the External Affairs of the EU Peter Stano has refuted Baku’s claims regarding the tripartite meeting between Armenia, the EU and the U.S. Answering the inquiries of the Azerbaijani media, he called the information about the nature of the meeting to be held in Brussels on April 5 “inaccurate”.
“It is not true that the meeting will be devoted to security guarantees. It will not touch on other issues, except the EU-U.S.-Armenia relations. The main focus will be on the stability of Armenia’s economy and bilateral cooperation with that country.
The EU and the U.S. share a commitment to support the stable, peaceful, secure and prosperous future of Armenia and the region. This will allow us to discuss the promotion of cooperation with Armenia with the aim of strengthening its economy on the basis of the EU-Armenia bilateral partnership,” Stano noted.
