Spain intending to recognize Palestinian state by summer
Spain intends to recognize the state of Palestine before this summer, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez told the press during his visit to Jordan.
Sánchez believes that in April–June this year, important events will take place in the international community regarding the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Sánchez said that the joint decision taken with the prime ministers of Ireland, Malta and Slovenia on the recognition of the Palestinian state will be implemented by this summer, if necessary conditions exist.
According to him, the decision on the recognition of the Palestinian state will be made first in the Council of Ministers, then brought before Parliament.
The head of the Spanish government believes that the only guarantee for peace and security in the region is to recognize Palestine.
