Member of the National Committee Vazgen Manukyan commented
on Artsvik Minasyan’s statement. Minasyan had said that they had discussed the
option of forming an interim government to be headed by Arman Tatoyan. However,
Levon Ter-Petrosyan opposed it.
Vazgen Manukyan mentioned three points:
“First, the committee has given considerable importance to
involving respected figures. Various people’s names were discussed, including
those of Arman Tatoyan and Vardan Oskanyan.
Second, the members of the committee also had discussion on
who might become the Armenian prime minister after the change of power. Arman
Tatoyan’s candidacy was also considered. However, this was not discussed with
him and such a decision was not made.
Third, according to some members of the committee, the
Catholicos of All Armenians and the three presidents of Armenia had better make
a joint statement on the movement and the events unfolding in Armenia and
Artsakh — not of course on the candidate for the prime minister’s post.
However, for some technical reasons, the implementation of this idea was
postponed.
Vazgen Manukyan noted that he thinks “the National Committee
failed to include representatives from different political and social movements
and did not represent the entire opposition”.
