UN announces unprecedented number of victims among its employees in Gaza
The number of victims among the employees of the United
Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA)
has reached 88 in Gaza. The number is greater as compared to that recorded in
any other conflict. The organization made a statement on this.
“The number of victims among the staff members of the
humanitarian organization has reached 88 since Oct. 7,” reads the statement.
U.N. Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and
Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths, the Director-General of the
World Health Organization, UNICEF’s Executive Director and other officials
signed the statement.
Once again, they called for the release of the hostages
taken by Hamas and for a ceasefire in Gaza.
