Georgian Parliament overturns presidential veto on foreign agent law
The parliamentary faction of the ruling Georgian Dream party in Georgia overrode the president’s veto on the “Transparency of Foreign Influence” law at the plenary session. Eighty-four MPs voted in favor of the law, Kvira news agency reports.
If the president does not sign the law within the specified period, the chairperson of the Parliament will sign it within five days.
At the same time, a protest is taking place outside the building of the Parliament. People are protesting against the “Transparency of Foreign Influence” law.
President Salome Zourabichvili imposed a veto on the law on May 18.
