President of the European Council Charles Michel could become Belgium’s next minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation after his current term ends, Politico’s European service writes, citing anonymous sources in Belgium.
According to the sources, the appointment of Michel as the new foreign minister of Belgium cannot be ruled out, given his work experience as the country’s prime minister and president of the European Council. In addition, the Reformist Movement party, of which Michel is a member, showed good results at the polls in the French-speaking part of Belgium. Due to this, he can claim several positions in the Belgian government, including that of foreign minister. According to one of the sources, the appointment of Michel as the new foreign minister of Belgium is quite realistic.
