State Duma Deputy Chairman: We call on Armenia not to repeat the mistakes of the post-Soviet countries
Two thousand and five hundred NGOs from the U.S. embassy —
the largest U.S. mission in the former USSR territory — provide grants, money
and instill it into the Armenian youth and society that Armenia can live
without Russia. As RIA Novosti reports, referring to the consequences of
cutting Armenia off Russia, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Pyotr Tolstoy
said this during the first “Russia-Armenia” public forum.
The official called on Armenia not to repeat the mistakes of
the post-Soviet countries, which tried to get everything they could get from
Russia, while at the same time, trying to get the same from Europe.
“As the latest war was going on in Karabakh, MPs of the
Armenian parliament used to visit me literally every week, asking me to call,
to say something or to do something, to let the Russian president know about it
all and to stop the war. Now these MPs have disappeared: everyone. I would like
to remind you that it was Putin who stopped the bloody war,” Tolstoy noted.
