Overchuk: Armenia and Azerbaijan are starting to work directly with each other, and this is probably the most significant achievement
As a mediator, Russia is ready to continue working toward
the unblocking of railway links between Armenia and Russia. Russian Deputy
Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said this to the press in Yerevan.
“It is important to understand that the unblocking of
transport links in the South Caucasus region is being carried out in accordance
with the tripartite statement signed by the Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian
leaders. To this end, a working group has been set up under the chairmanship of
deputy prime ministers. This working group representatives have met, documents
have been drawn up. First, we are talking about the unblocking of railway
links. We are ready to continue to work,” he noted, adding that Russia acts as
a mediator, and if the parties are ready to continue working in this direction,
we are also ready to take part.
“What is positive is that Armenia and Azerbaijan are
starting to work directly with each other. This is probably the most
significant achievement,” Overchuk said.
