Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi visited Turkey for the first time during his time in office.
Relations between Turkey and Egypt worsened in 2013, when the Egyptian Armed Forces, led by then-Chief of General Staff el-Sisi, overthrew Islamist President Mohamed Morsi, who was considered a close political ally of Ankara.
During today’s negotiations, Erdogan and el-Sisi will discuss the issue of the development of bilateral relations; they will also attend the session of the Strategic Cooperation Bilateral Commission.
