97 evacuated from Gaza for medical aid
The World Health Organization (WHO) has evacuated 97 people, more than half of whom are children. The WHO transferred them to the United Arab Emirates for medical treatment and called for regular transfers to resume.
“The Israeli-Palestinian war has destroyed the healthcare system in Gaza. Currently, only 17 of the 36 hospitals are partially functional, according to the WHO. Rafah, the main crossing point for medical transport from Gaza to Egypt, has been closed since May as Israel intensified its military campaign in southern Gaza. This was the largest evacuation from Gaza since October 2023,” WHO representative Richard Peeperkorn said.
