Iran demands urgent UN Security Council session regarding Israeli actions in Lebanon

Amir Saeid Iravani, the Ambassador of Iran to the U.N., demanded an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council to discuss the actions unleashed by Israel in Lebanon and the entire region, IRNA news agency reports.

In a letter addressed to the U.N. Secretary General and the President of the Security Council, Amir Saeid Iravani asked the 15-member council to convene an urgent meeting regarding the Israeli attack and the assassination of the Secretary General of Hezbollah. He noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the Israeli actions and, considering their dire consequences for regional and international peace and security, Iran calls on the Security Council to strongly condemn Israel.
