The EU should increase its support for Ukraine. Union countries will discuss the issue of new payments and strengthening of Ukraine’s air defense, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said before the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the EU countries in Luxembourg.
According to Borrell, the EU should help Ukraine prevent destruction, not to help restore it.
He also talked about Israel. According to him, sharp disagreements have arisen in the EU regarding the disruption of arms supplies to Israel.
After hours of discussions, the EU countries agreed on a statement condemning Israel in connection with the attack on U.N. peacekeeping forces in Lebanon.
Earlier, it became known that Israel used an unknown gas against U.N. peacekeeping forces in Lebanon.
The representatives of the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) also demanded clarifications from the Israeli side regarding the incident.
Before that, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on the U.N. secretary-general to withdraw the peacekeeping forces from the combat zone in Lebanon.
