EU summit approves Georgia’s accession process suspension
After the Brussels summit, the EU leaders announced that the actions of the Georgian government contradict the European values, therefore the process of that country’s membership in the Union has been de facto stopped.
Earlier, the Georgian authorities adopted two laws that have provoked criticism in the EU, namely the laws “On Family Values and Protection of Minors” and “On Foreign Agents”. The EU criticized these actions and demanded that Tbilisi cancel them.
